Working with Avalon has brought me huge personal growth, helped me find strength within myself, allowed me to find my voice and most of all, find myself. Frequently Asked Questions

Coaching is the process of helping people identify and achieve specific personal goals through developing skills and attitudes that lead to self-empowerment. Life coaching generally deals with issues such as work-life balance and career changes, and often occurs outside the workplace setting.

They come from every walk of life and can include parents, business owners, authors, creatives (designers and artists) speakers, and professionals (accountants, lawyers, engineers, doctors). Anyone that has a specific goal in mind to improve their life in a positive manner.

A life coach and therapist differ in that a life coach will setup a long or short-term process rather than have regular sessions. A coach is a non-healthcare professional who works with the client to clarify goals and identify problematic behaviours and obstacles so that an action plan can be developed to get the desired result for the client. A life coach will empower their client to take control of their life and take action to achieve their goals.

An mBIT Coach is uniquely different to a traditional coach. In order to appreciate how an mBIT Coach is different, it helps to first understand the four basic forms of coaching.

The first conventional form is performance coaching. This is what you typically see in sports coaching and in any type of technical or skill-based coaching. In this context, the goal is ideal performance and the coach is a technical expert and knows the difference between correct vs incorrect performance. The objective of the coach is to get the person they are – coaching to attain correct, ideal, or best performance.

The second conventional form is process coaching. This is the domain of most ‘life coaches’. In this context, the coach is not a content or technical expert as they would be in performance coaching. In contrast, the process coach is skilled in a suite of process facilitation methods and models that guide the client to come up with their own answers, solutions and action steps to address their issues and/or attain their desired outcomes.

A common mistake with many ‘business coaches’ is that they confuse process coaching with performance coaching.

The third form is what we call internal or ‘inner game’ coaching. This involves facilitating you through inner-learning processes about yourself, your worldview, and how you can become a better person with better responses in relation to your issues and outcomes.

The fourth form of coaching is a hybrid of two or more of the previous forms, sometimes referred to as multi-dimensional coaching (mBIT). Being an mBIT Coach belongs to this fourth category with a strong emphasis on internal/inner game coaching while facilitating your requirements it in a unique way.

The exciting new field of ‘mBIT’, which stands for multiple brain integration techniques, is a specific suite of methods for working with our three neural networks (three brains – head, heart and gut) and the overall process for working with our three brains is called ‘mBraining’.

mBIT coaching is based on startling insights from leading edge research in the neurosciences that show we have more than just the brain in our head.

mBIT coaching is ideal if you are dealing with:

  • Internal conflict between your thoughts, feelings and actions.
  • Repeatedly not acting upon or sabotaging your dreams, goals and plans.
  • Unwanted behaviours or habits and don’t know why and you have difficulty stopping.
  • Challenges in making decisions or if you are unable to motivate yourself to take action.
  • Chronically disempowering emotional states such as frustration, depression, anger, anxiety, etc.
  • Chronic health issues, especially those to do with the heart or gut region.

The main distinguishing characteristics of an mBIT coach are:

  • Multiple Brain Coaching – focusing on working with and through your multiple brains.
  • Integration Coaching – integration of these multiple brains to harness the synergistic intelligence that emerges from their integration.
  • Highest Expression Coaching – helping you to emerge with new possibilities for authentic ‘self-ing’.
  • Coaching for Generative/Emergent Wisdom and Consciousness – we facilitate the emergence of innate wisdom from a generative consciousness.
  • Coaching to Liberate the human spirit to create a Wiser World – we seek to liberate the human spirit from ego-based conditioning to bring greater wisdom in personal and societal decision-making and action-taking.

Yes, we work with anyone that has a specific goal in mind to improve their life in a positive manner.
